Wayra Expedition Peru and our subsidiary Machu Picchu Trekking prides itself on being a reasonably-priced locally based tour operator dedicated to showing Peru to the world in a resposible fashion. We are a group of professionals who decided to start this company as a way to give back to our community. We are called Wayra Expedition Peru because we are locals who are dedicated to improving not only the lives of our staff but also the people in the communities that we visit.
We set ourselves apart from other tour operators by paying our guides, porters, chofers and genearl staff a living wage and improving the lives of the many Qechua communities that we visit by donating a portion of our proceeds to them. Most of the operators do not assist the native Quechua people when they visit their communities, yet, the Quechua people and their culture are a major attraction for tourists and travelers, and make considerable contributions to the tourist trade, Peru’s third largest economy.
To address this problem, Wayra Expedition Peru offers socially and environmentally responsible tourism. We extend an invitation to all those who have planned or are planning their trip to the Cuzco area in Peru to join us in this effort to improve the lives of so many. By joining us for a tour or trek, you are also joining in our effort to level the playing field and create a more just Peru through the means of travel.
MISION
Wayra Expedition Peru assumes a duty in alleviating poverty in our community by supporting projects that promote sustainable development. We would like our projects to serve as examples for other tour operators to practice. For this reason, we dedicate our efforts toward sustainable development in various forms, such as education and agriculture.
VISION
Our path leads us to the more disadvantaged native communities of the Cusco area. While there is extreme poverty found in these areas, you will also find initiative, creativity and ingenuity that is intrinsic to the people in these communities. Our objective is to help people demonstrate their full potentional – to not surrender to adversity, to strengthen the resolve to help themselves and to not allow themselves to passively suffer from circumstance.
